This is a much needed and necessary attachment for the meat grinder/food strainer. In my opinion, this should 100% just come with the grinder/food strainer. You almost can’t use the food strainer without This because the original opening is so small you would spill stuff everywhere trying to ladle it in to the strainer. There is room for improvement through. When attached to the strainer this leaves about an eighth inch gap all the way around the opening and if you fill too fast or too much liquid at once it will run out between the two. But it is still a very munched need adapter to fully utilize the strainer. If all you plan on is making hamburger BUT --If you are planning on making sausage with your K A grinder-STOP- this is not the strong point nor is it the quality I expected from K A. The auger turned my sausage into hot dogs. I had to fight for every link. Push CUSS and push, a half hour -- to stuff 3.5 lbs. of buttery gooey bologna. If I had not bought the extended hopper -- the fight would have been a loss. The “stomper” diameter is so small, it allows the meat to push around it, and created a vacuum - so pulling it out of the grinder tube was a fight. My background with sausage stuffing goes back almost 50 years, but it’s been a couple of years since my last batch; bought a new smoker. Thought I would put up 4 lbs. of kielbasa --- WRONG --- . Save your money, by a real grinder or a real stuffer. They aren’t that $$ much more that the K A combo (grinder, over size hopper, stuffer tubes,)Making sausage should be a fun hobby not a dismal fight.I bought this becase I often grind meat and it holds a lot more meat than the plastic FGA Food Grinder Attachment. The fit is such that there is a gap all the around the FGA and it has a tendancy to slide back a little but it holds a lot of meat. I use it for griding meat as well as with a 3/4" stainless steel sausage tube that I use without casings but requires a 2nd set of hands to rotate a pan to collect the sausage which I later cut into 4" links.I am giving it 4 stars because the fit is not perfect and it has a tendancy to slide a little, but it delivers on the amount of meat I can load on top (when you grind 6 pounds of meat or use 7 pounds of ingrediants it saves time feeding meat into the FGA.At first I thought this was an unnecessary piece for my attachments, but after having a couple of pounds of meat to grind, it sure came in handy. I don’t know that I would pay much for it, mine came as a bonus to purchasing a combo set with the grinder and strainer. It is one piece and super easy to wash though and it just slides on over the grinder tray. Makes it easier to put all your food on this tray before you start, then you have both hands free instead of constantly scooping your food up into the original small tray. It does take up a large footprint in my cabinet though.I love that this product fits snug on my machine as I watched videos where people said they were too loose. Well they fixed the looseness and failed on the leakage part! What is the point of the added extra large tray if it leaks my stuff out the gaps? Frustrated because I bought this after seeing how well my Mother-in-law's worked. I even got all of this at a better price than she did. But I guess you get what you pay for. One man put tape around the gaps but why should I have to do this? Hopefully they will fix this. I love my KitchenAid products but not if they are useless like this tray! After using the foodtray attachment. I think a better option for those seeking a larger holding area atop the grinder would be to have a replacement grinder housing with a large holding area as a one piece unit. Unfortunately I havent found one available. Since this attachment is the only thing that comes close to doing this task here are my conclusions. It does hold a lot of extra food items to grind,it snaps on very easy and securely,it gives the option of a mess free place to sit a scoop or the plunger,it is easy to clean if you dont let the food dry hard,it virtually eliminated the chance of dripping raw product into the processed food, however if you use it for runny items like applesauce with the fruit/veg. attachment dont try filling it past where you would without the tray as the juices will run through the gap and run down the outside which could get messy.I really like this food tray attachment for my Kitchen Aid strainer. It allows you to put more apples or tomatoes or whatever you're straining into the hopper. The only slight downfall is that it doesn't fit completely tight, so some juice from your fruit or vegetables can leak out, but it's absolutely no big deal. The benefit of having it to be able to put more produce into the hopper far outweighs a tiny bit of leakage. I'm very glad I got this attachment. Well worth it.This is a very expensive attachment to the grinder and food strainer. It is solid and durable, but it does not fit tight and is therefore somewhat disappointing. Nevertheless with some accommodation I have figured out how to make it work for me, because, quite frankly it is necessary for processing large quantities of food without which it would be quite difficult or at least fussy and inconvenient. My remediation was to take some rigid tape and lock it down on the front and the back, with some pressure. Doing that makes it solid and tight and works well for me.This is an expensive piece of plastic that I would not recommend. There is a gap, with no seal, between the food tray and the hopper for the grinder/strainer attachment, so some of the liquid in the food you are processing leaks out and makes a mess. If you are reasonably coordinated, you can pour the food directly into the hopper of the grinder/strainer and save yourself some money by not purchasing this product.3 stars only, I find that it does not stop juices from escaping, does not fit perfectly, gaps between grinder and tray allow food stuffs and juices to escape and make a mess.Tiene un buen tamaño para ampliar tu área de trabajo con los attachments que tiene la batidora.Aunque es de plástico se ve de alta durabilidad.Disappointed. The liquid from the applesauce runs through the tray and down the machine. A tighter fit would have made this easier to use. I will continue to use it as it does hold a great deal.
